Dave Pettengill is an artist currently living and working in Dover, NH. He has called New England for much of his life.  He attended Montserrat College of Art, holds an undergraduate degree in illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design, and a master’s degree from The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. His work spans many modes including but not limited to sculpture, assemblage, painting, photography, installation, and street art. The work relies heavily on improvisation, rather than adherence to a certain craft or skill set. This allows it to remain dynamic rather than absolute. Reflecting on a close observance of environments, his work often blurs the lines between the natural and manmade world. The work is often layered with references to history, environmentalism, consumer culture, philosophy, music, the hospitality industry, formalism, design, construction, semiotics, religion, art history, mathematics, music, biology, and other scientific disciplines. His work has been exhibited across the country, including NYC, Philadelphia, Chicago, LA, Portland, OR and ME, as well as many other cities.
